The gene code

Decoding the science of being alive

About me

Hey! I’m Thea, an A-level student who spends a slightly unreasonable amount of time thinking about biology. I started The Gene code because I realized something: the science that explains how life works is either taught in the driest, most soul-sucking way possible, or it’s hidden inside research papers that only five specialists on Earth can understand. And that just felt wrong to me.

But when you actually start looking closer, biology is full of strange, clever, and sometimes slightly unsettling systems that are happening inside us all the time. This blog is my way of sharing the parts of biology that made me curious, explained simply and honestly by an 18-year-old, not a grumpy teacher reading off slides.
